Astraea Records is based in New York, and was founded in 2002 as an independent record label run by artists for artists. The label's roster features Camomile, Mobile Wash Unit, The Looking, Parmidian One,and Puracane; and its developing artists include The Black Horse Riders, and Grandpa Was a Lion. The concept behind the label: Astraea is the third-person singular present of the Italian verb astrarre, to abstract. Yet as much as the atmospheres in this new type of space exploration are indeed abstract and angular, it was actually the personification of justice -- the daughter of Zeus – that we were first thinking of. We want to promote celebration and dancing
